Why the Maryland Architects PAC Matters

(Reprinted from AIA Maryland State News December 2025 issue)

The Maryland Architects Political Action Committee (PAC) helps ensure architects have a voice in Annapolis. Alongside AIA Maryland’s legislative advocacy, the PAC allows us to build relationships with policymakers and be present when decisions affecting licensure, professional standards, and the practice of architecture are being made.

With important work ahead—including preparation for the 2027 State Board of Architects sunset review—engagement in the 2026 legislative session is critical. PAC support helps AIA Maryland participate early and constructively in these conversations, strengthening our ability to advocate for the profession.

Members are encouraged to consider contributing the equivalent of one hour of their annual salary. Even modest contributions help sustain our advocacy efforts and ensure architects remain part of the policy conversation.
