Serving on the Board of Directors

The AIA Potomac Valley chapter Board of Directors sets policies and strategic direction for the chapter, monitors and ensures the fiscal health of the organization, and allocates the chapter’s resources appropriately in order to meet Core Member Service standards established by AIA National. This sounds very official, but our Board is a collegial group of professionals representing the various facets of practice and people that make up the AIA Potomac Valley chapter. The Board meets monthly on the second Tuesday to transact the business of the chapter, at locations that alternate between LEAFHouse in College Park and the offices of our member firms. Members are also highly encouraged to participate in the chapter’s educational and social activities, and may be asked to lead a committee or task force effort compatible with their interests and skill sets. Service on the Board is a significant way to serve the chapter and the profession, while enriching your own experience through exposure to the full range of activities of AIA at the local, state and national levels.

Members serve two-year terms. If you are interested in running for a Board position for 2017-2018, please submit a brief statement of your interest and any prior experience participating in AIA activities at any level (local, state, national), along with a head shot, by Wednesday, October 19, 2016 to [email protected]. The slate of nominees will be distributed in advance of the Annual Membership Meeting and election to be held on Tuesday, November 15.  Feel free to contact Executive Director Renee Catacalos at [email protected] with any questions related to Board service or other types of service with the chapter.
