Meet MCSHANE PC
Terrence “Terry” McShane founded MCSHANE PC in December of 1998. Previously, Terry had served in the U.S. Navy with U.D.T. and SEAL Teams. He attended Georgetown undergrad and Law School on the G.I. Bill. After serving as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorneys Office, he entered private practice in New York City prior to moving back to the Washington Metro Area. After becoming a partner in a prior D.C. firm where he represented design professionals, he founded MCSHANE PC with a focus on representation of design professionals in litigation and corporate business matters in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Over the past twenty years, MCSHANE PC attorneys have been honored to represent over 700 different Architectural and Engineering firms on various litigation and corporate matters. Because of our unique D.C. based location, we have had the opportunity to represent clients on various monumental projects including the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center, the National Museum of the American Indian, the Viet Nam Veterans Memorial as well as numerous commercial, educational and residential projects.
More broadly, MCSHANE PC’s practice includes commercial litigation and professional liability involving construction, employment, insurance, real estate and contract matters. The firm’s professional liability practice includes the representation of architects, engineers, surveyors, attorneys, accountants, as well as directors and officers of corporations. The firm represents insurance companies, banks, real estate entities. In addition, the firm provides general business advice in corporate, risk management, human resources and transactional matters, including commercial leases and owner/contractor and subcontractor agreements.
For over 20 years, Terry has presented webinars and seminars to thousands of architects and engineers for continuing education credits. Terry delivered a national webinar to several hundred design professionals entitled “Construction Phase Services: How Project Documentation Can Reduce your Risk of Litigation." He has appeared in association with professional organizations, including the American Institute of Architects, the American Council of Engineering Companies, the District of Columbia Bar Association, and others in speaking to architects, engineers and lawyers on various legal topics and risk management issues. At the National AIA convention, Terry presented a seminar entitled “Monumental D.C. Architecture: Unique Design Challenges and Unique Legal Risks." Also, Terry has been a frequent speaker to the Maryland Society of Professional Engineers and the Maryland Society of Surveyors.
From 2000 to the present, Terry has delivered his Annual Employment Seminar/Webinar to thousands of clients and licensed professionals, as well as corporate human resources directors for risk management purposes. Since 1993, he has presented, “Mastering the Rules of Evidence,” as part of the District of Columbia Bar Association Continuing Education Series to thousands of lawyers for continuing education credits.
