AIAPV has partnered with Torti Gallas + Partners to offer a limited number of seats for live webinars of the firm's Lunch & Learn CEU events on the last Wednesday of each month. AIA credits will be reported by the presenting vendors. Registration through AIAPV is $5 for members and $10 for non-members. Firestop 101: A Life Safety Issue

Course Description

This course explains the need for firestop and provides an overview of how the model building codes are addressing the issue. Attendees should understand what firestopping is and why it’s needed, know the applicable code requirements related to firestop, and understand firestop system testing and listing for penetrations, joints and perimeter fire barrier. There will also be discussion about how firestopping fits into the specification, design and construction process.

  2. Understand the many variables that affect firestop performance.   
  3. Understand the secondary attributes of firestop products.       
  4. Improve specifications, drawings and details to promote proper selection and quality installation of firestop systems.
