Course Description: 

Today's LED technology opens up possibilities for lighting design that were inconceivable just a few years ago. This course describes the features and benefits of current LED technology, how understanding the light spectrum and color metrics leads to better lighting design, and how to specify a custom LED illumination plan that meets design needs for residential, hospitality, and commercial interior projects.

Learning Objectives:

1. Partipants will be able to recognize and explain the features and benefits of current LED technology
2. Participants will understand the basics of the light spectrum and be able to identify how different light sources affect the way the eye sees light in interior environments
3. Participants will gain an overview of color metrics and be able to apply them to specify lighting for interior lighting design projects
4. Participants will explore light layering, the lighting design process, and various types of LED lighting and be able to apply this information to develop and specify custom LED lighting plans that achieve the desired aesthetic and functional needs of a residential, hospitality or commercial interior design project.
