Understanding HPL and the Benefits of Rainscreen Applications

Course Description

Identify HPL through the manufacturing process and product erformance, as well as the principles of back-ventilated rainscreen cladding. Evaluate guidelines for proper design and construction of rainscreen applications. Distinguish appropriate cladding for back ventilated rainscreen cladding.

Learning objectives

Along with a discussion on how HPL (High Pressure Laminate) rainscreen systems can contribute to a successful Passive House design, attendees will learn how to identify HPL façade panels based on the manufacturing process and by product performance. By demonstrating advantages such as choice of décor options, long-term performance and design flexibility, participants will learn the benefits of using HPL façade panels as part of a building envelope.

Attendees will also learn about the design and construction of rainscreen assemblies by observing various attachment systems, panel characteristics, building codes, and how these components interact. Diagrams, project examples, detailed sections, and testimonials on system performance will serve as case studies for learning and identifying essential elements within rainscreen applications. By demonstrating advantages such as improved ventilation, reduced moisture accumulation and heat gain, we will show participants how to evaluate the benefits of using rainscreen applications featuring an HPL design.
