Combinations of Materials [Webinar]

Course Description:
These days most building include multiple exterior material-brick, steel, glass, stone- and systems, such as curtain walls and EIFS. Participants will learn how brick performs with other building materials and how to combine them without creating problems. Brick and mortar, steel, block and stone combinations will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will learn how to determine proper combinations of brick and mortar. When is it appropriate to use certain types of brick? What mortar type is best to use with certain brick.
- Attendees will learn what impacts occur when metals are used in combination with brick. Proper spacing of expansion joints and slip planes are emphasized.
- Attendees will learn what details are required when combining brick and EIFS or curtain walls into the same project. Proper interface details are provided.
- Attendees will learn about potential problems when combining brick and wood. Special details are provided when supporting brick on wood construction that can conform to code requirements.
