2020 Affordable Housing Conference of Montgomery: Meeting the Covid-19 Challenge
The Affordable Housing Conference of Montgomery County (AHCMC) is hosting its 29th Annual Housing Summit—Meeting the Covid–19 Challenge on October 2, 2020, from 9:30 am –1:00 pm. Though we look forward to meeting again in person in the not too distant future, we are grateful for the opportunity to present a virtual Summit. If ever there was a time for an engaging dialogue on meeting the need for safe, decent and affordable housing--this is it. During the Summit plenary session, Maryland’s Congressional delegation, Secretary of Housing and Community Development Kenneth Holt, and County Executive Marc Elrich will share their views on the economic, healthcare and housing challenges experienced in managing the pandemic and strategies and solutions they hope will lead us out of the current crisis.
Following the plenary session, we will present four expert panels with question/answer sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in two panels during the Summit on October 2. You can then visit our website at http://www.affordablehousingconference.org to view the other two panels at your leisure during the month of October. The panels will explore: Housing as a Public Health Imperative; Impact of Housing and Economic Uncertainties on Renters, Homeowners and Multi-Family Property Owners; Innovative Financial Strategies to Tackling the Affordable Housing Crisis; and Economic and Social Justice Eluding Communities of Color. The plenary session and all four panels have been approved for AIA continuing education learning units when viewed live.
