Building Codes and Bathing Solutions: Designing Showers and Tubs to Comply with ADA, FHA and ICC A117.1
Course Description:
The presentation covers the three predominantly encountered building codes in architectural design, ADA, FHA and ICC A117.1 (commonly referred to as ANSI) and how bathware is configured to comply with each.

Learning Objectives:

Improve understanding of what each code is, where it is required, where the guidelines for compliance can be found and what elements are required.

Improve understanding of FHA design guidelines that provide for equal access to housing regardless of ability and how bathware configurations can ensure residents can safely stay in their home should the need for accessibility arise in the future.

Improve understanding of the three types of compliant bathing fixtures and accessories and how each one is configured to meet the 3 covered building codes.

Improve the architectural/structural specification of accessories including but not limited to seats, grab bars and slide guides to ensure long term safety of the residents, patients and caregivers.
