Factory Pre-finishing of Exterior Building Materials

Course Description

This course covers common on-site exterior paint failure issues and their causes, and describes the factory coating process for exterior woodwork, substrate materials, installation tips and its many other benefits.

We identify common causes for on-site exterior paint failure issues and how these factors can be eliminated through factory pre-finishing. We describe the factory coating process for pre-finished exterior woodwork and substrate materials, as well as examine the cost benefit decisions involved in selecting these products for a job.

1. Identify a number of reasons for early exterior paint failure, and describe methods for eliminating these risks.

2. Describe possible environmental damage that may occur with on-site painting and methods to avoid it.

3. Describe three methods of factory coating and their pros and cons, and list tips for installing factory-coated woodwork.

4. Understand common on-site exterior paint failure issues and their causes.
