Acoustic Isolation for Floor-Ceiling Assemblies
Course Description:
This introductory course in acoustic isolation is designed to give attendees the basic knowledge needed to make informed decisions about sound control in floor-ceiling assemblies while keeping industry standards and innovations in mind. Topics covered include widely accepted test standards and measurements, relevant building codes, verification and credibility of acoustical tests, and characteristics of sound attenuation materials available on the market.

Learning Objectives:
- Identify parts of building codes relevant to sound isolation and their minimum requirements for compliance
- Compare sound attenuation materials to determine the most suitable for use in a floor-ceiling assembly
- Distinguish the measurements and standards used to test floor-ceiling assemblies in the laboratory and field
- Evaluate the credibility of acoustical tests and results to ensure that assemblies will perform as designed
