Course Description:

This course summarizes requirements for common green building and wellness rating systems.  It highlights similarities, differences, and potential considerations when selecting a green building rating system for your project, allowing you to make an informed decision that pairs a rating system for the "best fit."  The presentation focuses on common green building rating systems for commercial and residential projects located in Maryland.  The presenter will build upon foundation knowledge of green code and LEED.  And will also layer in forward-moving objectives and strategies in the market like net zero, carbon neutrality, and passive house.

Prerequisite Knowledge: Sustainability, LEED

Credits:

Please note: You must attend the entire session to receive continuing education credit.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Compare the similarities and differences between different green building and wellness rating systems      

  2. Identify key considerations for selecting a specific rating system for your project, within the context of code, policy, and project goals      

  3. Explain and be able to communicate the value proposition of different rating systems      

  4. Analyze the intersectionality of net zero, carbon, and passive house within the rating systems

Jennifer Wolf, LEED AP BD+C & Homes, LFA

Jennifer Wolf is a Director of Sustainable Programs at Sustainable Building Partners. With over 10 years of consulting and 6 years of commercial construction experience, Jennifer provides direction, guidance, and strategic planning for the Sustainable Programs Department, including sustainability, carbon and materials, wellness, code and site plan consulting. Jennifer also provides direction and guidance to the Life Cycle Assessment Team in support of SBP's carbon and materials consulting service. She performs whole-building life cycle assessments and carbon neutrality studies to inform building, energy, and material environmental impacts.
