Course Description:

Join us as we tour the recently completed passive house in Del Ray. This tour will offer a unique opportunity to learn about sustainable building practices and energy efficiency. During the tour, we will observe firsthand things such as advanced insulation techniques, airtight construction, and high-performance windows that contribute to the home's minimal energy consumption. Insights into the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar panels and geothermal heating and cooling, are also gained. Additionally, experiencing the comfortable indoor climate, even temperatures, and excellent air quality emphasizes the benefits of passive design. Such tours provide valuable knowledge for anyone interested in sustainable living, green building, or reducing their carbon footprint.

The metro to Potomac Yard Station is closest—it’s about a 15-minute walk from there. Or you can take the Metro to Braddock Road Station, then take the 10A or 10B bus to Mt. Vernon Ave and East Randolph and it’s a 2–3 block walk from there.

Professional Experience With extensive experience in both large-scale federal and institutional buildings as well as small-scale infill urbanism, Deborah has a deep understanding of the architectural needs at various scales.
