Learning Objectives:
-
This course will explain system types. These system types include extensive, semi-intensive, and intensive. Membrane protection will be explained. The different methods of protection will determine the long-term effects and sustainability of the green roof. Protection is vital to long-term performance.
-
Vegetation Free Zones will be discussed. Vegetation Free Zones are also vital to the long-term success and sustainability of the green roof. The attendee will learn more about proper drainage, upkeep, and water runoff methods that can enhance the occupant experience.
-
The different layers of Green Roofing will be discussed. Attendees will learn more about the waterproofing process and how to keep water safely outside the building for drainage and reuse. We will cover the actual waterproofing material, water drainage methods, and insulation to keep the indoor environment comfortable and safe.
-
We will discuss the design of long-term, thriving, leak-free Green Roofing and its maintenance requirements. The attendee will learn more about the sustainability and long-term effectiveness of a green roof, not only for those that build the roof but also for those who will be living or working with this space. Proper upkeep will be discussed, allowing the learner to understand how maintenance plays a vital role in the long-term effectiveness of the green roof.
